Our houses were painted in 2016. This needs to be done again every ten years, as the protective coating wears away over time. The houses may still look white when the coating needs renewing.
Our approach
Preparation takes approximately two years. We are now starting to put together a committee. These are the main steps:
A joint painting project: how we will approach it
Informing residents (6 months)
We will share the details of the previous painting project: how it was organised, which paint system was used and what it cost. At the first information meeting, you can ask all your questions.
Building support (6 months)
A survey will help us understand what you want as a homeowner, and we will explain the approach in more detail.
Facilitating (6 months)
We will prepare painting recommendations, request quotations from painting companies and jointly select the company that best fits. At a second information meeting, we will introduce the company, after which you can place your individual order.
Supporting (optional; duration to be confirmed)
If desired, we will keep an eye on progress during the work and check the quality of the painting.
Wrapping up (1 month)
We will share the results with the neighbourhood and carefully file all the documents for the next painting project.
We will keep you informed through a letter or newsletter in your letterbox, the website and social media.
A little history
In 1991, the entire paint system was removed. On advice, it was replaced with the current Siloxan paint system.
The historical information describes a water-vapour-permeable system intended to prevent moisture problems from inside the building. It also describes the silicone-resin emulsion as highly durable and, in everyday terms, “self-cleaning”.
In 2001–2002, the Siloxan system was reapplied in full, and again in 2016.
